The organ may be even seen as his first instrument in early childhood. He became organist in a church in Frankfurt/Main in the age of 9! His teacher Wendelin Röckel was just back from studies at St. Cecilia Academy in Roma where he had learned with the famous organist of the vatican Maestro Fernando Germani.
With only 13 years Wagenhäuser played organ concerts including free improvisations. In the age of 14 he played in the main Cathedral of Frankfurt. Of course there is still a big love for this instrument. And so Wolfgang Wagenhäuser is asked to play concerts on the organ every year. He has played organ concerts in Paris, Riva del Garda, at the festival in Norden, Capetown, Liverpool, Hiroshima, Tokyo and many more.
In 2010 he has been touring Japan and preparing recordings with organ and piano together with his wife Raluca Chifane Wagenhäuser, with whom he forms the Excelsior Piano Duo. Wagenhäuser did Cd-productions on the organ with Branimir Slokar and recorded 10 cds as a soloist on the organ with various composers. On 3 Cds you can listen to his great art of improvisation.
